Neighborhood Watch Works

NW2

Wondering if Neighborhood Watch is worth your time and effort?

Have a look at a recount one of our new patrolers shared with us recently. As you can see he did everything right. He was observant, called 911, reported back to Winona Watch and most importantly did not intervene in the situation.

The partoler writes:

I just got back from my first patrol, and I have to say it was more interesting than I thought it would be.

I called 911 because of some suspicious activity in a driveway on Winona…

[As] I walked by [a home]… a large, dark figure stood next to one of the three vehicles in the driveway-a pickup truck. It was a big guy. I could not see anything else because it was so dark, just the outline of his body. I know he had a ski hat on.

I continued to walk and stopped maybe fifty feet past the house. Very silent. I listened for a minute or two. I then turned around and walked passed the house again. Nobody was in the driveway. No sounds.

I slowly walked backwards, watching the driveway, travelling north, and a large, dark outline of the guy popped up from the other side of the truck. He obviously had been crouching. I could see this against the light behind him.

I continued to walk, turned the corner, and called 911. They dispatched a car.

Wheww. I’m certain that warranted a call.
