Rochester Marathon Traffic Advisory

Sunday, September 22nd

Runners will be using the South bound lanes of Thomas Avenue and St. Paul Boulevard as they make their way through Irondequoit a map of the full course can be seen at RochesterMarathon.com. According to the organizers, in and out access to the side streets may restricted during the morning hours as runners make their way through our community. However, volunteers from our town neighborhood associations and Yellow Jacket Racing as well as officers from the Irondequoit Police Department will be stationed at various intersections to make sure everyone stays safe.

Based on the information we have we are advising that Winona Woods residents utilize Winona Blvd as a North/South route during the morning to avoid the boulevard. When crossing or rejoining St. Paul is necessary we suggest using the intersection at Titus Ave

Greetings -

This e-mail is to inform you that the 2019 Rochester Marathon (Half, Full & Relay) will be taking place on Sunday, September 22nd We wanted to make you aware that there will be some road closures that may have an impact on your services that morning. Traffic will be able to cross through the closed areas, so not to completely halt transportation to churches, businesses and homes, but there may be some delays.

 The Course:

The race begins at 7:30 am on Maplewood Drive in Maplewood Park (by the tennis courts).  The course takes participants north on Maplewood Avenue to Lake Avenue, where they get on the Genesee River path after Riverside Cemetery.  They stay on the river path until they reach Petten Street in Charlotte, where they then cross over the O’Rorke Bridge into Irondequoit.  Participants then go south on Thomas Avenue, to St. Paul Blvd where they again get on the Genesee River path at the Cornell Cooperative Extension (2449 St. Paul Blvd).  After crossing the Pedestrian Bridge in Seneca Park, participants continue on the river path until they reach the Maplewood Rose Garden.  At this point, the runners who are participating in the Full Marathon will turn into the Maplewood Rose Garden parking lot and do the loop again.  The runners who are participating in the Half Marathon will instead cross over Driving Park, continuing on the river path until they reach Brewer Street.  They will then take Brewer Street to St. Paul Street, cross over the Pont De Rennes Bridge, and end in front of Frontier Field.
