Upcoming Bond Vote • December 30th
Winona Woods strive to keep our residents informed!
A big decision for St. Paul Blvd fire district residents!
Our fire district proposes a $21.8M bond for a new firehouse to improve safety & health standards.
The vote set for December 30th from 3 to 9 p.m. at the St. Paul firehouse.
Some residents have expressed worry about the short notice, have questions about competitive bidding, and wonder about the holiday timing with many of our residents traveling at this time of year.
A spokesman for the St. Paul fire district notes that the current firehouse is out dated and there is a need for a modern station that meets cancer prevention standards and provides gender-inclusive spaces for firefighters.
If approved, the project would raise taxes by about 33 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value — roughly $5 per month or $62 annually for the average homeowner.
