Neighborhood Watch programs like ours help encourage more residents to keep their eyes peeled and ears open for suspicious behavior. If you ever doubted the effectiveness of such efforts read the excerpt  below from the Irondequoit Police Department which took place nearby recently.

Between September 10th and 11th, 2014, the Irondequoit Police Department responded to several incidents where recently delivered packages were taken from the victims residence.  One of the victims was able to provide video footage of a suspect taking the package fro the front stoop area.

The clip was shared with the media; a viewer, who is an Irondequoit resident, believed that on the same date of the incident she had seen the same male from the video in her neighborhood. The resident noticed the male on her street and was able to obtain a vehicle description and license plate of the vehicle. When the resident viewed the news story she called 911 and reported the information to the Irondequoit Police.

Investigators were able to follow up with the information. During the investigation it was learned that the below Michael Schneider was responsible for the several larcenies in Irondequoit as well as a possible suspect in incidents in the City of Rochester and the Town of Greece.

Schneider was arrested for three separate counts of Petit Larceny stemming from the two incidents on Simpson Rd and a third on Frankland Rd in Irondequoit. Schneider was remanded to MCJ on a $1,000 bail, and is to appear back in Irondequoit Town Court on 9/15/14 for arraignment with counsel.
